Update on the frills: You can no longer get them in the cave though you can still breed them and get frill eggs. But the current status (from the artist's signature) is:
they go at the end of June.
Status: ... maybe want.

Thought I'd update those who aren't at the DC Forums.

Edit: for update on status.

Will most likely update this post every time I find out about a status change (which could happen daily) So if this is out of date, bear with me. XD The most actuell and accurate status can be found here, in the artist's signature.

Okay, for those visiting the DC-Forums it's old news but for those that don't: the Frills are gone! I hope you all had enough time to stock up on them before they disappeared.

On an other note: I bred my second gold egg. bounce Now that makes 4 gold dragons. *is excited* I'm willing to gift some gold eggs in the future and when I'm back home. Now it would be too much of a hassle to find a hot spot in time Wink

The Frills are gone? You mean the green and orange ones that Em loves so much? I have some so I'm good. We can still breed them though...right? So why did they stop them? That's weird.

I have 3 Vampire eggs I don't want...I have managed to get myself an army of Vamps. So if anyone wants them just let me know. It's probably easier to reach me by email or on twitter. I'll try to remember to stop by here again in the next day or so.

If you want a Vamp but can't take one now, I can bite you some later.

Yep, the green and orange ones. You can still breed them but they won't give you any frill eggs and you can't breed them with rares and uncommons anymore. (Which interferes with one of my favourite breeding pairs: Ewaif Baz and Cannington; Frill and Silver)
They were discontinued cause some people on the forum started hate-threads about them as they blocked the cave and AP all the time. Which lead the artist of them to ask for their removal from the cave.

I don't need any more Vamps, got all I wanted. Still looking for Sunsongs and BBWs though. And some low view hatchies for S1 freezing. And after september I'll try for Neglects again. Still need males and ungendered. And a female hatchling.

PostSubject: Re: miniGeek Dragon Cave   Mon May 17, 2010 9:19 pm

So if I breed two frills I won't get a frill? Does it say that "they want nothing to do with each other" message? Wow...hate threads? Really? How childish and weird.

I never understand why people breed the eggs they do. There have always been frills and different green eggs in the abandoned more than any other color and I wonder why. But, I would never bother to start a whole hate thread about it. And, the artist sounds like they were a bit thin skinned. They shouldn't let the haters get to them. And, maybe understand it wasn't hate of their egg but really hate that there were so many of that egg so new eggs weren't being dropped. Instead the artist is all pouty and "I'm taking my eggs and leaving...hmmph!"

There are so many newer eggs I can't get. The newest three eggs and three new ones before the Nocturne, Electric & Canopy dragons . I don't know their names...I think thunder may be one. I don't even know what Sunsongs and BBWs are. I kinda forgot about Dragon Cave for awhile and I missed a lot of new eggs. Sad

Doesn't look like anyone wants the vamps so I guess I'll drop them into the abandoned area. Someone will be happy I'm sure...lol.

PostSubject: Re: miniGeek Dragon Cave   Tue May 18, 2010 1:25 pm

I unhid the adult dragons on my scroll for now, so you can see most of the 'new ones'. Hid them during my neglected experiments which were a succes Very Happy

I doubt you can breed frill x frill at all. And if you can you'll get no eggs out of it.

And the thing with the 'eggs no one wants' in the AP... there's one thing in DC that's like 42. It's the ratios. The ratios 'decide' what eggs drop in the cave and which eggs are more likely to be laid when you're breeding. The overall count of dragons of one species compared to the numbers of other species and the overall number (I guess it's in percentages with for example Pebble% > Ice% > Gold%). And the commons pop up cause you can only breed your rares (Gold, Silver, Holidays) and uncommons (the 'Trio' Ice, Magma and Thunder) with commons.

SO the 'eggs no one wants' are simply those eggs that are most common. Green-coloured in particular. (Do you remember the time when Pinks blocked the cave? That changed as soon as they got their BSA) There're threads on the DC forum where people try to 'fix'/influence the ratios by catching and freezing/releasing unwanted dragons to rise the overall number of those breeds. And surprisingly they work. (One thread tries to rise the number of CB blacks by not breeding the blacks on their scrolls and after about two or three weeks the total number of CB blacks did rise as the ratios saw a lack of blacks in the 'DC world')

Btw: if you have a Pumpkin dragon, they can breed with Pygmys now. Year round you'll get Pygmys and around Halloween you'll get Pumpkins.
Not sure about Pumpkin x Pumpkin breeding though.

And if you have all of the Trios (Ice, Magma and Thunder, released before the Nocture, Canopy and Electric) You can try to summon a very rare egg. If you're unlocked an action will show up on your trio's action page. I tried it three times now and still got nothing.

I don't have a Pumpkin Dragon. They came out when I was ignoring the cave for awhile. I also missed Ice, Magma and Thunder! I can never catch any of them either. Sad And, I can't catch the newest three either. *sigh* Sometimes it seems more work than it's worth.

Thanks for all the info. It makes sense about keeping certain dragon eggs out of the abandoned to make the number of cave borns rise. I personally don't care if I get a cave born vs an abandoned caught. Either is fine with me. Wink

Bred 3 Nebulas. If anyone wants them, they're up for grabs. I am usually on sometime between 3-6pm EST. If you're interested, post here and I try to be online.

Not inbred, for those who care Wink

I don't have twitter.
But the timeframe -as wide as it is- still stands. I'm usually online between 3 pm and 6 pm EST though I only check from time to time. I'll log in the chat tonight and try to activat the sound-alarm. ^^ Not sure if it'll ping me though. (This post is out of the timeframe as I sneaked to the computer before lunch)

You can get all three if you want and no one else claims one. But as it got quite "unbusy" around here your chances are good Wink And I can breed them all again next week.

*eyetwitch*

How is it that everyone else always gets the new ones and I have to resort to getting it from you guys to get them if I don't want to wait a couple months before they become old and no longer attractive?

Me too! I had to get the nebulas from the lovely Ekorre! *hugs Ekorre* I am missing tons of the newer eggs. Trish had to give me a vamp...or maybe it was 2 vamps. (now I have bitten a vamp army...lol) Someone else gave me a gold egg and it wouldn't breed for almost a year I think. Now I have many golds (all from the same gold though)

What annoys me is that I breed my rarer dragons and share with the abandoned area...but it doesn't seem like many others are. They just aren't sharing. *pouts* I have put tons of Splits and Crystal Dragons in the abandoned area. Oh well....I have great friends that are kind enough to breed dragons for me so I get them that way...lol.

Megan, if you only want cave borns you probably will have a hard time getting them. It seems like I never see any rarer ones there. Sad If you don't mind bred ones, look on my list and I'll breed something for you. *hugs* If not...that's ok too. Wink It's Kdvb1 on dragoncave.

And then the news get out that *sometime* this week LOL, how about *NOW*? some new eggs are going to be released... That much to 'completing my scroll' lol Wink

But the good news is, they're working on ways to make catching the new eggs less difficult. My guess is they'll be fiddling with the ratios to make the 'older'/'unwanted' dragons less common. Something like a shorter midwinter madness (Canopy, Nocturne, Electric) -drop maybe. We'll see.

----

Edit: The DC-forum is down right now. Which is good as no one 'officially' knows that new eggs are out yet. At least it seems like that to me.

I got 2 eggs already, both in one five minute drop. (300ish People online) No luck in the last one (about 800 but dropped back to 350 one minute later) as the word seems to get out slowly.

Kimbers: How bad is your scroll lock? Cause you can get one egg through breeding (just look at the AP and you'll know what to breed Wink ) I had no luck with my 4 breeding attempts but have both of the other new eggs from the cave.

Whew, I was lucky with those. Turned off both 'load pictures' and Java... That speeds up my firefox that much, that I actually have a chance to get those eggs!

Edit: hm, it seems the green one come in at least 3 different patterns...

Look at the AP and I'll know what to breed? Um...I don't know what the AP is and how can breeding make room for eggs I want to grab? *scratches head*

And, I forgot about my other accounts on Dragoncave! LOL So I can grab new eggy's with the other accounts! Yay!

Well... then make sure, that you don't use the same E-Mail address, password or name (haha) on your .... erm... family members' accounts.... http://dragcave.net/terms --> third paragraph *hint hint* You can change your E-Mail address here. Why I tell you this... there were some recent burns (=deletions) of scrolls due to multiscrolling.

The AP is the abandoned pile.... http://dragcave.net/abandoned
And if you're scroll locked with 4 eggs then you can still breed a fifth. But I saw that you have 5 hatchlings... And 5 hatchlings you don't want to freeze/release I guess Wink

I'll check by your scroll later, Kimbers. I love getting caveborn eggs when it comes to a lot of breeds, but not all of them.
